Describe the defect first
A broken tile, rain-related leak or damaged gutter section is a specific concern. Record the symptoms and any previous work so the discussion can establish what needs attention. A visible stain alone cannot determine the full roof condition.
Ask what restoration includes
Restoration can be used to describe a combination of repairs, cleaning and coating. Ask for the proposed tasks and exclusions in writing. Roof painting changes the finish; an existing defect still needs its own assessment and suitable treatment.
When replacement is being discussed
If a replacement has been suggested, ask what condition or limitation makes local repair unsuitable, which parts are included, and what access and related work are involved. Send the existing advice with your enquiry. A replacement decision requires property-specific assessment and confirmation of the contractor and work scope.
What affects the scope and price
The affected area, roof material, condition, access, preparation and extent of work can change a quotation. Describe repair, cleaning and painting needs separately, including any gutter or timber work. Confirm the inspection, attendance and reporting charges before booking; a website enquiry does not establish a fixed price.
