A new finish starts with the existing metal
A faded finish, peeling coating and rust need different preparation. We look at the sheet profile, previous coating, fasteners and junctions before agreeing a cleaning, repair and painting scope. A new coat does not replace a damaged sheet or fix an active leak.
Repair, repaint or replace the affected sheets?
If the sheets remain suitable for coating, surface preparation and a compatible finish may be considered. Where corrosion or damage has weakened a section, repair or sheet replacement needs a separate decision. The quotation should identify access, preparation, any metal and flashing work, and the proposed finish.
What to send for a useful quote
Tell Allen the roof material if known, the approximate affected area, whether there is an indoor leak, and any previous coating or patching. Photos from a safe position help us discuss the next inspection and work scope. The actual method and price depend on roof condition and access.
What affects the scope and price

Identify repair, cleaning, painting and any gutter or timber work separately. If an attendance inspection or an independent written report is needed, clarify that arrangement separately.

A few useful answers
Can I ask for cleaning without painting?
Yes. You can enquire about cleaning, painting or both. Describe the current condition and the work you want so the scopes can be discussed separately.
Does storm damage mean the whole roof needs replacing?
The timing alone cannot establish that. Roof and drainage concerns need to be distinguished. Share when the issue started and what can be seen safely; do not assume either a minor repair or a full replacement before assessment.
What if I do not know the material or cause?
Start with your suburb, when the problem happens and what you can observe. Roof material and photos are optional. You do not need to climb onto the roof to enquire.
