Explain what you have noticed at the ridge
The ridge is the meeting line at the top of a pitched roof. Describe visible loose or damaged sections from a safe position, or share an inspection finding you have already received. Repairs may include ridge bedding or pointing work and replacement of damaged tiles; the suitable scope depends on the roof condition.
Rebedding and repointing are different scopes
A request described as repointing does not by itself establish whether the underlying bedding is sound. Start with the condition you can see, and the appropriate process and any associated tile work can then be identified for the roof.
Bedding and pointing do different work
Ridge caps sit along the high points and hips of a tiled roof. Bedding supports the caps, while pointing finishes and protects the exposed joint. Visible cracking alone does not show whether the underlying support remains sound.
Tell us about loose caps, missing material or previous patching. Depending on the condition found, the work may involve the exposed joint, the bedding or replacement of damaged caps. A sound repair considers the support as well as the visible surface.
What a ridge quotation can show
Your quote can identify the lengths and locations included, whether loose caps need lifting, whether damaged tiles are included and what preparation is planned. Work to one ridge is different from work across all ridges and hips.
Tell us about any leak as well. The visible ridge condition is a useful clue, while the water-entry route may also involve another part of the roof.
What affects the scope and price
Mel One provides free quotations. The price of the work depends on the affected area, material, condition, access, preparation and scope. Identify repair, cleaning, painting and any gutter or timber work separately. If an attendance inspection or an independent written report is needed, clarify that arrangement separately.

Provide the suburb or postcode, what you have noticed, when it occurs and the work you are considering. Roof material is useful if known. Photos are optional and should be taken only from a safe position. Mention access constraints and any previous inspection or repair.

Can I ask for cleaning without painting?
Yes. You can enquire about cleaning, painting or both. Describe the current condition and the work you want so the scopes can be discussed separately.
Does storm damage mean the whole roof needs replacing?
The timing alone cannot establish that. Roof and drainage concerns need to be distinguished. Share when the issue started and what can be seen safely; do not assume either a minor repair or a full replacement before assessment.
What if I do not know the material or cause?
Start with your suburb, when the problem happens and what you can observe. Roof material and photos are optional. You do not need to climb onto the roof to enquire.
